Hey guys! I just wanted to apologize for staying away for so long a time. I know I'm not on here very often anymore, and I do have a reason for it- mainly that most of my time spent writing is for my Beginning Fiction Writing class and so I don't have a lot of time for personal projects that I would normally put on here.

(lmao, skip to the bold to avoid my rant, guys)
also, because my writing class is incredibly frustrating for me. i enjoy it immensely, but not as much as i expected to, and i think i've realized why. i'm way, way. way too conscious of everyone else's opinions in that class- i'm not writing what i enjoy at all. i've spent so much time writing what they expect from me that i haven't been able to really write anything that's wholly mine in a long time. college is for trying new things and all that, though, so i'm glad i did. it's just a bit of an eye opener for me. i need tougher skin, in general.
(although, i actually get to write for a class now! how awesome is that! still not really over it.)

anyways, news update: COLLEGE IS GREAT. so much fun, and i love it more than i thought i would, being busy all the time. i'm trying to write something to put up here, but if i can't find the time, i'll just upload something from class. hopefully, i'll have something for you guys soon!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, EVEN IF I'M AN HOUR TOO LATE. :boogie:
  • Mood: Lazy
  • Listening to: Mercede's Lullaby- Javier Navarette
  • Reading: Batman: A Court of Owls, volume 1 (so good so far)
  • Eating: nutella with a spoon, what has become of me

Awwww I know the feeling! That's why I wrote whatever the hell I wanted and just posted it on dA until I felt comfortable sharing it in class. It actually turned out better than I thought it would.

You should be more of yourself in writing classes. I graduated with a BA in Writing. My first class I was terrified what everyone thought and since we had critiques almost every other day, it was unnerving. I found, though, that the more myself I was with my writing, the more I actually learned and improved. Experimentation is good, of course, but don't let the people dictate what you should actually write about. I wrote a story about a war over bagels once. I had two people rip my work to shreds, but my teacher absolutely loved it and ended up arguing with the people the entire time. If I had tried to write my story for them, which I almost did because these people were always rather cruel with their remarks and intimidating, I wouldn't have garnered as much praise and the crits wouldn't have been as authentic. Does that make sense? Anyway, writing is very personal. No author writes a story without putting a little of his- or herself in it. But, honestly, most of the people critiquing your work are probably as nervous as you are. Especially in a beginning fiction class (I LOVED mine by the way).

Sorry for that wall, by the way! I hope you enjoy your class and the rest of college :D

I'm so sorry that I'm just now getting this message - how on earth did I skip over this? Anyways, thank you so much for your inspiring advice. Hearing from someone who has obviously been in my position before is such an amazing relief - thank you so much, again! I'll try to take your advice on this C:

I feel the same about my college classes - it's terrible that I automatically dislike being in an environment where people are better than me! I guess I don't like being reminded!

Ahh, I'm so excited that you can write for a class now! Don't worry, you'll ease into it and eventually show people your writing that you like. And your writing is truly great, don't be ashamed or nervous in the slightest. And you're going to that class to get feedback and improve even more, aren't you? I know it can be hard, but eventually your skin will grow and your writing will come out even better at the end! :) Good luck with it all, and I can't wait to read more of your stuff!

I really do think that you should just post your writings from your class on here! Honestly, we love your writing so much, that you could give us your worst and we'll love it. Perhaps not as much as usual, but it'll still be your stuff, which is brilliant and interesting and dynamic, so just update when you can (meaning asap) and we'll be happy little fans! You're fantastic, I'm so impressed with you, and good luck with college!

ps. I'm in my first year of college too and it's not as exciting as I wished, so I'm glad I'm not the only one a bit frustrated!

p.p.s- Nutella on a spoon is the only acceptable way to eat Nutella.
